Go! - Matthew 28 Series

9:30a & 11:00a

It is in the gospel of Matthew chapter 28, as well as the Gospel of Mark chapter 16 we find what has been called “The Great Commission”.  It is here that Jesus tells his disciples and us to “Go…”.  This not even close to the only time Jesus is recorded telling individuals and groups to go.  In Luke chapters 9 and 10, Jesus says it three different times.  “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.” (Luke 9:60).  “Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” (Luke 10:3).  “The expert in the Law replied, ‘the one who had mercy on him.’ Jesus told him, ‘Go and do likewise.” (Luke 10:37).  In every case, “go” is a command to action. To “go” requires movement in the direction you are sent. Jesus has clearly sent each one of us and it is impossible to follow Jesus as a disciple and not understand the urgency in the term “go”.  However, what does it mean for us today?  Where should we go?  What are we supposed to do when we get there?

In this four-week teaching series, we will use “The Great Commission” as our text while we look closely at the Authority, Call of Discipleship, Obedience and Promise of these amazing last words of Christ.  This practical teaching series will not only familiarize us with “The Great Commission” but will also help us understand our role in it as individuals, families and the Church.  Invite someone to come with you and join us each Sunday morning, January 19 – February 9th at 9:30 and 11:00.
