Being Christ to the World
You know, it’s amazing to me how many opportunities we have in our daily lives to be Christ to the world, which we miss or don’t even see. Growing up for me, everyone knew that I was a Christian and that my dad was a minister, but more times than not, I never shared Christ with my friends. Why is that? I mean if we truly believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God and the only way to Heaven, why aren’t we “Proclaiming it rooftops”!! As I have gotten older, this has been on my mind more and more. Penn Jillette, from Penn and Teller, said this about a man who gave him a Bible, “If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell and people could be going to hell—or not getting eternal life or whatever—and you think that, well, it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward. . . . How much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that?”
As I have gotten older, I have been more aware of the opportunities in my life that God has given me, and I am trying to do a better job at using those opportunities to be a witness through my words and my actions. Even in the four months that I have been here in Loveland, I have been privileged with multiple times that I was able to share Christ with people I have met. What about you? Are you conscious of the opportunities in your life? Do you believe, truly believe that Jesus died and rose again for everyone that you want to tell others? I challenge you today to put your faith into action. Look for those opportunities that God gives you and use them to spread God’s truth.
