If We Are The Body

Message from Preacher B

Happy Easter!  No, it is not Easter Sunday, but to be honest, every time we gather as God’s church we celebrate the Resurrection in song, Scripture, Communion and in baptism.  We also should be thinking every Sunday “who can I invite to sit with me in worship?”  If we treated each and every Lord’s Day with the excitement and anticipation we experienced last week, can you imagine the revival that would take place here at LCC and in our community?  WOW!

This morning, like no other Sunday I have ever spoken, I am truly preaching to the choir.  After all, I am talking about the church to the people who showed up at church.  However, I do promise that the information shared today will be valuable and informative.  When I think of the church, one song always comes to my mind.  It debuted in 2003 by the band Casting Crowns and is entitled: “If We Are The Body.” I believe that the lyrics to this song complements the message and will challenge each one of us.

It's crowded in worship today
As she slips in trying to fade into the faces
The girl's teasing laughter is carrying farther than they know
Farther than they know

But if we are the body
Why aren't His arms reaching?
Why aren't His hands healing?
Why aren't His words teaching?
And if we are the body
Why aren't His feet going?
Why is His love not showing them there is a way?
There is a way

A traveler is far away from home
He sheds his coat and quietly sinks into the back row
The weight of their judgmental glances
Tells him that his chances are better out on the road

Jesus paid much too high a price
For us to pick and choose who should come
And we are the body of Christ

Jesus is the way
